Though, I ain't a linux user but as I've ubuntu cd in my cd
collection, I thought lets check it out. Guess what? I'm loving it.
Though, it's unable to run any windows application but it has a mind
blowing interface far better than windows. In these how to, I will
explain the installation process.
You must have:
1. Ubuntu cd/dvd
2. partition magic(costly)/partition logic(free, light)
3. A computer with at least 320MB ram
4. Electricity to run the computer
5. Monitor for visual
6. cd drive
ok enough. Coming to the main point. At first you've to create a
partition for ubuntu. Because, linux doesn't support fat32 and ntfs
file system. I'd recommend partition magic for this procedure. Grab
some 4gb space and create a new partition on ext2 file format. You can
also create a swap partition in this way.
If done, we can move to next. Enter the cd of ubuntu and restart your
computer. The cd will boot and then select start/install ubuntu. When
ubuntu loaded, click the install icon. Then
proceed through steps and in the partition step select manual. Then
select manual partition and then select your created partition.
Remember to change the drive to "\". Now let ubuntu do the rest of the
work.
